Horse or Pony Riding (On your own horse)

Description

Bring your own horse for full use of our mapped and unmapped tracks.  Our shortest mapped track is 3 miles long and our longest unmapped track is approximately 10 miles long.  The terrain covers forestry tracks to open hills with links to woodlands tracks, crossing streams and fords and routes suitable for endurance riders.  Our tracks suit a wide range of experiences for riders of almost all levels and ages.  We do provide guided tours and in addition to the tracks we also have 5 stables on offer, two looseboxes and various small paddocks.  Feeding of horses can be arranged and a tack room is available.
 
Environmental Tours (8 people max)

Description

These tours are available all year round, but please bear in mind that the species and habitat naturally vary with the seasons.  If you have something specific in mind, please contact us for information.  Generally the tours include bird watching, flora and fauna, travelling though a wide range of Galloway landscapes.  The Special Sites of Scientific Interest woodlands date from the 1850's so have a wide range of lichen and moss varieties which are unique in their own beauty.  Whether you choose to travel by vehicle, horse and carriage, horseback or walking we can tailor your tour to suit your desired needs.
   
Escorted Walks (8 people max)

Description

We have 14 different walks available and these can be guided or unguided.  We can take you through our beautiful woodlands with the main features described.  If you are new to the countryside and want a little information or if you are a someone with specific interests we can tailor our walks to suit a broad range of needs - basically we have something for everybody.
   
Fishing (Fly fishing only/keep 3 fish)
Season

April to September.
Description

Full and half day fishing is available.  We have 3 small lochens (lakes) with Brown Trout, 2 of these lochens have boathouses.  Each lochen is approximately 1½ acres in size.  You can fish from the bank or rowing boat and you can keep up to 3 fish.  Our fishing is ideally suited to people who wish to learn but also serves the need of someone who likes a challenge.  Your day can be supplemented with lunch for everyone and you can also cook any fish you have caught.
   
Local Activities Outside Garroch Glen

Description

If you are planning a longer stay in Garroch Glen, outside our land the Glenkens also offer: Sailing, Water Skiing, Mountain Biking, Hill Walking, Bird Watching, Coarse Fishing, Kiting, Horse and Pony Trekking, Golf and Off-Roading Rallies.  In addition there are many local events including: Folk Concerts, Sheep Dog Trials and the famous World Alternative Games.  The Glenkens has a variety of accommodation from hotels, B&B's and holiday cottages.  There are also small caravan parks for hire as well.
